Sunday – urban christian life
We are a worship project with people from all over who are currently in Munich and sing, pray and reflect together once a month in a bar (usually the first Sunday). We are rooted in Martin Luther’s understanding of God’s journey to us in Jesus Christ and are ecumenically and interculturally open. We believe worship is both fun and challenges us to become how God has created us. Sunday is accessible in German, English and an increasing number of languages.

Dr. Claudia Häfner
Understanding the person in front of her is the passion of this 44-year-old pastor. She enjoys preaching and finds inspiration in the story of the prodigal son. Claudia is a fan of Latin America and her four children.
Dr. Christoph Jahnel
Like Abraham, this 47-year-old pastor is interested in transitions, crossing from country to country and through different stages of life. Therefore, he loves accompanying people at life’s transition points – baptisms, weddings, and end of life. He relaxes by reading and spending time with his wife and four children.
This 42-year-old pastor loves accompanying people to make the experience that God sticks with us – no matter what. Sarah, Abraham’s wife and Katarina’s favorite biblical person also discovered God’s presence even while migrating into far-away lands. Katarina loves hiking in the mountains and spending time with her family and friends.
This 42-year-old pastor is fascinated by the liberating power of faith and wants to share it – whether he’s in the city, rock climbing, or dancing to Rock ‘n’ Roll. He likes that he always finds himself in the pages of the Bible, from joyous Miriam to liberated Bartimaeus.
People are the focus and passion of this 51-year-old pastor. She relishes in conversation to understand her counterparts and tries to keep in lockstep with them. Only on the basketball court does she run away and leave the rest behind.
Dr. Norbert Roth
“Before God and for the people – to their benefit and to His glory” – that is crucial to this 43-year-old pastor. He is astonished by the world’s beauty and attempts to be gentle because of its fragility. His favorite message: God loves and sees the world – that is nothing to be earned but to be received as a gift.
This 40-year-old deacon loves sharing life and faith with young people. In her free time, she runs and relaxes in a hammock in Umbria/Italy. She is fascinated by the Ruth of the Bible who left everything to follow her newfound family and their God.
